Hello and Welcome!
My name is Dennis Dori. My interest in sailing started when I bought my first 25' sailboat way back in the early 70's. This followed the death of my aspiring auto racing career... unfortunately my car owner felt I was over the hill at the ripe old age of 32!
My first experience chartering in the Caribbean goes back to 1972. I've since chartered yachts in the Caribbean more than 25 times, accompanied by friends and family. After a few charters I began to realize that every time I brought someone new to the area, they enjoyed it so much they went back again... either with or without me.
In 1992, after qualifying for a US Coast Guard Masters License, I started up my own charter boat business in Chicago on Lake Michigan. The first thing I had to do was get my yacht LAKE STREET, a 43 ft. Doug Peterson racing sailboat, approved by the Coast Guard for 20 passengers. Once that was done I was open for business, specializing in private and corporate sailing charters. In the seven years I operated LAKE STREET we entertained more than 10,000 guests.
In 1994 I decided to launch my charter yacht brokerage business, Charter Sailing Unlimited. By 1996, I met the qualifications of the Charter Yacht Brokers' Association (CYBA). As a member of this prestigious group, I must regularly inspect the charter fleet and update my knowledge of the respective crews. In addition, I must subscribe to CYBA's strict code of ethics and run Charter Sailing, Unlimited according to their professional guidelines.
Thanks to the Internet, my charter yacht brokerage business expanded so much so I retired my LAKE STREET operation to devote my time exclusively to booking charter yacht vacation cruises in the Caribbean. Until recently, I've focused solely on booking charter yachts in the Caribbean only, due to my extensive familiarity with the yachts and crews located there. It is now my goal to expand Charter Sailing Unlimited's range of operations to include the luxury yacht market in the Mediterranean and beyond.
