40′ DOUBLE EXPOSURE – Florida Keys Crewed Catamaran

DOUBLE EXPOSURE  40 ft. Custom Catamaran

~ Captain: Scott Higginbotham - Chef / Hostess: Cara Higginbotham ~

The catamaran DOUBLE EXPOSURE is based at Key Biscayne, Florida at the Crandon Park Marina, which is just a short taxi ride from Miami International Airport, or easy access from I-95 if you are driving.

While on charter aboard DOUBLE EXPOSURE your itinerary is based on what you wish to do when you want to do it, so if just anchoring and relaxing is the plan for the day, that’s easy!! Weather is always a factor in the itinerary, but there’s a lot of places to visit within easy distance, should weather become an issue. The yacht is available to sail year round in the Florida Keys.

DOUBLE EXPOSURE provides you with comfortable cabins that are well ventilated and also provides air-conditioning for those nights that are not so breezy and cool. The deck area has lots of walk-around room and plenty of space to lounge and enjoy the sun while sailing. A hard top provides ample room in the cockpit to get out of the sun after a full day outside.

Bring your music!! iPod plug-in and DVD players are provided. A selection of movies are onboard for those nights you just want to do nothing but hang out and feel at home. The salon table is a great place to play a round of Poker or Solitaire. Bring any games or videos you may want to enjoy.

Remember to pack light!!! Sunscreen is a must!! Light, loose clothing, a good floppy hat and non-skid sandals are really the basics. Oh yeah, don’t forget a bathing suit or don’t wear one at all, we don’t mind!! Bring a good book so you can sit back and enjoy.

Snorkeling gear, floats, kayaks and fishing gear are all provided. Snorkel the clear waters and reefs to find all kinds of fish or maybe see a lobster hiding under the coral. The mangroves of Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys provide great kayaking and also the newest favorite, fishing from kayaks. Catch dinner and bring it back to the boat!!! Mangrove snapper are great fun to reel in on light tackle!!

It’s great to BBQ for dinner outside while at anchor. Sit outside with a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset for “Happy Hour” on board. Your days and evenings aboard can range from very quiet and tranquil to wild parties; it is your vacation, so you decide what you what the day will be. You can truly relax and see the beauty of Florida and the Keys while aboard DOUBLE EXPOSURE.

Your crew of Scott and Cara Higginbotham hail from the Miami area. While always enjoying the pleasures of the sea, they have been sailing the waters of Florida, the Keys, and the Bahamas for over 20 years. They both left their successful corporate jobs to move to the Virgin Islands and sail the Caribbean. After five years of chartering in the Caribbean, they returned to their hometown. They are happy to show you the Keys and the South Beach area. Their personal experience and knowledge - including the top water play and party spots - are a bonus for any guest aboard DOUBLE EXPOSURE.

Scott and Cara are both U.S.C.G. Captains. They make for a dynamic team whose fun-loving strengths will ensure that you have the most memorable vacation of your life. They look forward to welcoming you aboard DOUBLE EXPOSURE. As testimonials to that you’ll find below comments from some very satisfied DOUBLE EXPOSURE guests:

From Mike Durst:
It was truly an amazing experience, one that will be tough to top.  We thoroughly enjoyed your hospitality and can't think of anything you could have done differently to make it better. Thanks for opening our eyes and minds to the beauty and wonder of the Keys and a lifestyle I have only read about. It was truly a relaxing and unique vacation for us...and now back to reality.

From Bobby & Elaine, Rich & Rebecca:
The trip was amazing and I can't think of a better couple of awesome people such as you that we would have rather shared it with. You guys really made it a memorable trip. We all felt like we got on the boat with a crew, but in the end, we left two dear friends behind. I hope that we can do it again real soon. Thanks again.

From Rebecca:
Oh my God, we had a BLAST. Great boat, crew, company, and weather- the next day it rained non-stop... We will definitely go again.

From Carla:
Thanks for the AMAZING day on your beautiful boat!  We all had a wonderful time!  Looking forward to doing it again.

From Anne & Steve, Chrissy & Robbie:
Steve is trying to convince me the last 4 days were not a dream.  It was wonderful and beyond words. Chrissy said at dinner last night she forgot what hunger felt like. Anytime she was even beginning to think of food it magically appeared! Thanks for adding and being a part of our memories.

From Lea, Glynda, Sean and David:
Visiting the Florida Keys has always been one of the things we have wanted to do in our lives and we certainly found the way to do it. Scott your no problem attitude matched by Cara’s can do approach to life has really made this a truly memorable experience. It has been wonderful getting to know you both and we really appreciate the effort you make every moment to ensure we have consistent smiles and an abundance of laughter. Be sure to use us as a reference any time. Till we meet again

From Judy:
I can't thank you enough for your efforts. You guys really love what you do, and it shows!

From Laura:
I could not have asked for a better vacation, it was perfect. The meals were all wonderful, in taste and presentation and our input was always taken into account all the time. I would rate my charter as an 11 out of 10 and the crew a 12. Thank you very much!

From Tony:
Michael and I would like to thank you for the wonderful experience that you shared with us. The VI's are beautiful but what made it the most memorable is the both of you, you not only shared with us your home but more so, your lifestyle, which by the way, is not too shabby at all. Cara your food was delicious, I know so, because Michael ate and we all know what a finickier eater he is. Scott thank you for spending time with Michael teaching him how to sail, you are a master.. Michael is hooked, he's already planning his next school break trip....coming up in march sometime. ME.. I'm always ready. Wishing you both the best and hope to see you soon. PS... Its freezing up here.....

From Michael:
Just wanted to thank you for such a great charter experience. Scott and Cara are the best.. Thank you again. Scott made a convert out of my son Michael.. He loved it and wants to do this again...so do not be surprised if I were to contact you some time in the NEAR future. Do pass on my total satisfaction of all aspects of this trip...namely Scott's expertise as an all around captain and teacher, Cara's great hostess qualities and a definite compliment to the captain and last but not least your team who put this together efficiently and expertly. Looking forward to our next trip. Best of Health.

From Anne:
We had a wonderful time and Scott and Cara were terrific. They made sure we had food we liked and allowed us to do as much or as little as we wanted. Even as our tastes changed they made sure we had everything we wanted on board. They really knew the islands and brought us to some very special locations. We would recommend them without hesitation. Thanks for all your help.

From Jenny:
I want to thank you again for showing our kids and the adults a great time on our trip. I could not have asked for anyone better to deal with the kids…Scott, you may not have any boy children, but I don’t think you’ve left your own boyhood too far behind! You were great at monitoring their drinking, but still allowing them and actually helping them to have a wild and crazy, very memorable time! The conch hunt and cleaning were highlights for them, in addition to the Willy T. Cara, you’re just a great sport at everything and with everybody. It was amazing that you could cater to both the boys and the girls in terms of cooking and activities, and with great spirits! In addition to being a great crew for showing the kids a good time and taking them off our hands, you also both contributed greatly to a good time for the adults with all our joint happy hours, dinners, and activities, and just because you’re really fun people! Thank you, again, for everything. It was a really great trip for all of us…a measure of this is that the good memory is not diminished by the fact that it took us a nightmarish 2-1/2 days to get home!!! But the time on the boats was paradise, and nothing can change that. I’ve been so depressed since getting home that I wonder if I wouldn’t like to come live on a boat in the Caribbean! - Thanks again

From Mike & Trinket:
Want to thank you both for a trip of a lifetime for us.  We couldn't have had more compatible Captains and we now have new friends as well. Truly beyond our expectations and hopes. Hope to see you in Key West.
