KEYS
(Florida Yacht Charters,
Vacations & Rentals | Florida Keys, Biscayne Bay)
A cruise through the Florida Keys offers
a range of opportunities and rewards that are nothing short
of Fantastic! ... Great fishing, crystal blue waters, tropical
fish, and coral reefs and more!
If your vacation plans dictate an abbreviated cruise of
7 days or less, or you prefer to cruise through more protected
waters, then the Florida Keys is the place
for you!
Biscayne Bay is the gateway to the Florida
Keys cruising grounds; just a short few hours sail away,
and stretches 200 miles all the way down to Key West, with
lots of safe, protected anchorage along the way.
Imagine a cruising ground of 800 islands stretching across
hundreds of miles of crystalline water, caressed year round
by balmy Southeast breezes. Add to this an abundance of
rock lobster, fresh fish, crabs, and shrimp...all yours
for the taking. These are the main ingredients of "Americas
Out Islands", The Florida Keys.
Explore the only - living coral reef in the Continental United States without ever having to make an open-water passage. Enjoy snorkeling and fishing (it doesn't get any better than this). Visit secluded islands, marinas and resorts and never sail in water deeper than fifteen feet!
Day 1: You board your yacht at 9 AM, check-in,
stow gear, have breakfast, then attend the Captain's Orientation
Meeting to familiarize yourself with your new cruising home
for the next week. Now you kick off your shoes and sail
off into famous Biscayne Bay (Florida Yacht Charters)...relax
and unwind, you're here! You marvel at playful schools of
Dolphin as they play in the bow wake. You take the helm
and just lay back! Troll along the way and you'll probably
hook your first fish by the time Pumpkin Key and Key Largo
pop over the horizon! Have a great dinner at sea anchored
out for the night off Key Largo.
Day 2: If time allows, dingy ashore after breakfast to Elliot Key for fantastic beach combing on the Atlantic side. Because it is accessible only by boat it is great for a secluded picnic on the beach. Later you sail through Angelfish Creek and south down Hawk Channel. If you prefer, you can Snorkel on the reefs at famous John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The coral formations and variety of fish are astounding! Anchor at Rodriguez Key for the night or try one of the plush marinas in Port Largo Canal. Entertainment, quiet pubs, fabulous seafood restaurants are within a short walking distance.
Day 3: You'll need at least two days of snorkeling and sailing the reefs in the park to see all the coral formations and explore the wrecks. Actually, you could spend week's right here! Enjoy the area and return to either Rodriguez or sail south to Tavernier Key.
Day 4: Set sail for Islamorada and Windless
Key, dock at famous Holiday Isles Marina (there's no protected
anchorage here). Enjoy an evening of dockside entertainment
at the world famous Islamorada Tiki Bar. Meet some of the
local characters known as 'Conchs', learn 'colorful' sea
ballads and songs about the rich history of the Florida
Keys, wild ladies, pirates and of course ...rum.
Day 5: Enjoy the sandy beaches of Holiday Isles, the fresh water pool, barbecues, parasailing, water skiing, wave runners, hobie cats and small nautical shops. Spend the balance of the day here or elect to sail south to Indian Key and anchor out for the night.
Day 6: Up early, setting sail north through "Hen & Chickens Reef" for fishing, snorkeling and exploring an ancient wreck! Continue north to Angelfish Creek and anchoring for the night at picturesque Sands and Boca Chita Key. Since this is your last night out, how about a Sunset Cocktail Party with special hors d'oeuvres followed by yet another gourmet candlelit dinner?
Day 7: Breakfast...then dingy ashore to Boca Chita for exploring and a climb to the top of the lighthouse. After lunch on-board, set sail through the Featherbeds and north to Biscayne Bay and the marina.
You've now sailed the entire Upper and Middle Keys, and had an opportunity to get acquainted with a few local 'Conchs', and spend some time snorkeling a few coral reefs you'll never forget. In addition you've also sampled some of the areas great cuisine, music and made long-lasting shipboard friends...an experience you'll probably cherish and talk about forever!
